Servomold will debut new servo drive controllers, actuators at Fakuma

Injection mold automation expert Servo mold According to reports, the company will launch a new generation of servo drive control units and a newly developed series of actuators for performing linear motion at the Fakuma trade show in Friedrichshafen, Germany, in October.

Starting next year, the new SMC (Servo Mold Control) system will replace complete universal and rack control systems that have been installed in more than 700 machines since 2012. Features intuitive operation via a unified touch panel and automatic switching between different encoder systems.

The SMC Mini is limited to one drive controller, the SMC Standard version will be able to control up to four servo drives, and the SMC Rack version can accommodate eight drives. A combination unit was developed in collaboration with Feller Engineering as a plug-in device for Feller racks. In this configuration, up to five servo drives and 60 hot runner zones can be controlled through the SMC control panel.

At its booth, Servomold will also present compact, powerful and clean alternatives to hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders – commonly used to perform translational slide, core or platen movements in injection molds. The new SLK, SLR and SSK servo-electric linear actuators are suitable for stroke lengths in excess of 1000 mm and provide high nominal thrust through integrated gear stages. Servomold says they ensure maximum flexibility by using different spindle systems as well as individually configurable servo motors. The SLK is a compact version with a ball screw, the SLR is a high-performance actuator with a roller screw, and the SSK has a servoworm actuator ball screw with a particularly compact and flat design due to the 90° arrangement. .

Servomold added in the press release that it will provide Fakuma attendees with detailed information on its application-specific solutions and its entire portfolio of cost-effective, standardized servo system components. In addition to servo-electric unscrewing units and worm drives for unscrewing threads, the Erbach, Germany-based company will also present complete unscrewing halves that can be used directly in the workshop; high-performance servo drive units and linear actuators ; space-saving index plate turner; threaded core set; and rotating threaded core cooling system for the unscrewing device.

Servomold will be exhibiting at the exhibition, Hall A2, Booth A2-2111 Fakuma The International Plastics Processing Trade Show will return to Friedrichshafen, Germany from October 17th to 21st, 2023.
