Distributed servo drives from Rockwell Automation

Rockwell Automation launches new ArmorKinetix distributed servo drive

Rockwell Automation launches ArmorKinetix distributed servo drive. This new decentralized servo drive is an extension of the Kinetix 5700 platform, providing customers with scalable drive solutions to help them achieve leaner, greener and more powerful machine designs.Distributed servo drive

Manufacturers are increasingly looking for scalable solutions that help simplify machine control architecture, minimize component count, reduce manufacturing time and optimize productivity. ArmorKinetix decentralized servo drives help customers achieve these goals by providing a simpler architecture that mounts the servo solution outside the electrical cabinet. As a result, machines can be designed to be more modular while reducing cabinet size, cabling and cooling requirements.

Smart servo drives also include vibration and thermal sensors that detect potential machine issues, allowing for more proactive identification and resolution of issues and increased system uptime. This proactive approach can provide a catalyst for increased productivity.

ArmorKinetix decentralized servo drives can provide companies with the opportunity to help reduce machine manufacturing costs while further increasing the scalability of control architectures, improving energy efficiency and creating more supportable machines. Key features of ArmorKinetix decentralized servo drives include:

  • Greater power density and minimal derating

  • Available as decentralized servo drive or integrated servo drive and motor

  • Output power up to 5.5KW

  • Advanced analytics using integrated vibration and thermal sensors

  • Integrated safety technology capable of achieving SIL 3

  • CIP security capabilities

  • IP66 certification

This new decentralized servo drive technology helps reduce total system costs, improve productivity and increase uptime for manufacturers, making it an option to better support the next generation of production machines.
