Maxon Motor launches servo controllers for robotics, automation and manufacturing

The four-quadrant PWM servo motor controller can efficiently control permanent magnet activated brush and brushless DC through Hall sensors, with a power of approximately 250 watts.

OEM plug-in module features fast digital current controller for motor current/torque control. The drift-free device has a speed range of 0 to 150,000 rpm, features programmable digital and analog inputs and outputs, and operates in various motion control operating modes (speed controller (closed loop), speed controller (open loop) , current controller).

The servo controller is controlled via an analog setpoint, which can be specified via an analog voltage, an external or internal potentiometer, a defined value, or a PWM signal with a variable duty cycle.

Other features include the ability to activate or deactivate power stages depending on the direction of rotation, or the ability to use speed ramps for acceleration and deceleration.

Speed ​​can be adjusted via digital incremental encoder (2 channels, with/without line driver), DC tachometer or Hall sensor. When connected to a PC via the USB port, the servo motor controller can be configured using the included CON Studio graphical user interface.

CON module 50/5 has protective circuitry against overcurrent, overtemperature, under- and overvoltage, voltage transients and motor cable short circuits.

It also features protected digital inputs and outputs and adjustable current limit to protect the motor and load. The motor current and the actual speed of the motor shaft can be monitored via the analog output voltage.
