FE100-50-RM FlexPro® Servo Drive

advanced Motion Controls® (Camarillo, Calif.) introduces the FE100-50-RM FlexPro® RS485/RS232 servo drive, which delivers 50 amps continuous rms and 100 amps peak to drive motors in large mobile robots. This servo drive has an input voltage range of 20-90 DC, a maximum continuous power output of 4.5 kW, and can be integrated into tight spaces. PCB mounting The servo drive mates directly with the motor shaft PCB. Features include incremental encoders, BISS C-mode feedback, and torque, speed and position operating modes. Robot monitoring


OnRobot (Odense, Denmark) provides WebLytics software for production monitoring, equipment diagnostics and data analysis. The software monitors the performance of multiple collaboration applications simultaneously in real-time and collects device data from robots and tools to show how collaborative applications are performing. It instantly identifies trends in robotic cells, including patterns, spikes and disruptions in application productivity. The software can report usage of tools such as robotic arms and grippers, vision cameras and sensors. When changes are made to the robot cell, such as adjusting the robot’s speed or settings on the gripper, the software can also automatically report the impact of those changes on application performance.

HCDS-051-064 stage

Moticont (Van Nuys, Calif.) has released the HCDS-051-064 series of open-hole voice coil platforms, which are linear DC motor-driven platforms. Designed for closed-loop servo operation, an integrating quadrature optical encoder with differential output is standard. Each stage has a built-in master switch for initialization on power-up. These platforms feature precision threaded mounting holes for tools or fixtures, 1.20 inches (30.5 mm) of linear travel, plug-and-play wired connectors, and 29.5 micron and 25.4 micron resolutions. Peak force is 14.9 pounds, continuous force is 20.0 pounds, and bore diameters are 0.5 inch and 0.75 inch.

Electric servo system

AutomationDirect (Cumming, Ga.) introduces the LS Electric servo system, which provides a setup wizard, auto-tuning and a built-in indexer for motion control applications. There are five standard servo motors from 100 W to 1 kW, which can be operated in combination with one of two standard servo drives. L7C drives accept single phase 200-230 VAC and are controlled via analog speed or torque signals, high speed pulse trains or internal indexing. Setup is performed using the built-in keyboard/monitor or the PC-based DriveCM software. The L7C series includes standard accessories such as prefabricated servo motor encoder cables and servo motor power/brake cables. DIN rail mount I/O breakout kit allows connection of external command and I/O signals; optional external brake resistor and optional AC input filter are also provided.

SCARA robot

SCARA by Trio Motion Technology

Trio Motion Technology (Gloucestershire, UK) offers a range of Selective Compliant Assembly Robot Arm (SCARA) robots that provide robotic control, motion control and machine automation from a single controller.

These robots are designed for pick and place, assembly and dispensing applications.

There are four robots to choose from, ranging from an arm reach of 400mm and a maximum payload capacity of 3kg, to an arm reach of 700mm and a maximum payload capacity of 6kg.

Each is powered by four Trio MX Series servo motors, which are individually controlled by Trio DX4 servo drives and Trio motion coordinators, allowing the entire machine to be controlled simultaneously, rather than having separate controllers for the machine and robot.

RSA 500 encoder

Leine Linde (Strängnäs, Sweden) introduces the RSA 500 water- and corrosion-resistant absolute encoder for mechanical positioning and synchronization.

The encoder housing and encapsulation are made of grade 1.4404 stainless steel to prevent corrosion.

To minimize the number of possible leak points, press-fit components are used instead of standard components, eliminating screws and screw holes where processed food, bacteria, and other contaminants can accumulate.

To further protect the encoder from acidic liquids, its body can be lightly pressurized with compressed air.

IP 67 rated encoders can be used in applications that handle corrosive liquids, whether in the food industry or chemical industry.

Type 7274A Accelerometer

Endevco (Dupuy, NY) introduces the Model 7274A accelerometer for high g-shock applications. This rugged triaxial piezoresistive accelerometer is designed for high acceleration shock measurements in three mutually perpendicular axes. The housing uses low-noise eight-core cable, which can repeatedly withstand high-acceleration impact environments. Available in 2K, 6K, 20K and 60K g full-scale ranges, this accelerometer features a high resonant frequency and is ruggedized up to three times the full-scale range.

LRS-18 Spring Loaded LVIT

HG Schaevitz LLC Alliance Sensors (Moorestown, NJ) offers the LRS-18 series of spring-loaded LVIT (linear variable inductance transducers). Contactless devices are designed for dimensional or position measurement applications in factory automation and a variety of industrial and commercial applications where the sensing element cannot be attached to the object being measured. Features include ranges from 0.5 to 4.0″ inches, M18 × 1 threaded aluminum or stainless steel body with mounting nut, 0.25″ diameter probe with AGD No. 9 contact tip, and axial cable or connector. Short-stroke actuators from HEIDENHAIN

HEIDENHAIN (Schumburg, IL) supplies ETEL TUCANA ST and AQUARIUS ST short-stroke actuators for turret loaders in semiconductor manufacturing.

They are mechanically optimized, have a fully symmetrical and balanced design and are suitable for small nominal forces as low as 0.5 N.

Features include a total stroke of up to 10 mm, speeds of up to 1 m/s, accelerations of up to 40 G, and a movement of ±10 µm in 6.7 ms and a settling time of 2.8 mm.

The TUCANA ST has a peak force of 68.4 N and a continuous force of 12.1 N.

AQUARIUS ST has a peak force of 214 N and a continuous force of 31.4 N.

Nanotec (Feldkirche, Germany) supplies radial preload nuts for external linear actuators with flange size 42 mm (NEMA 17). The backlash-free nut automatically realigns during operation and can be used with the LSA42 series linear actuators. They are equipped with ACME or trapezoidal threads, which facilitate the construction of space-saving linear shafts. Magnetic Clamps from Magswitch

Magswitch’s (Lafayette, Colorado) e-Series smart magnetic clamps are not electromagnets, nor are they EPM (electro-permanent magnets).

Magswitch E-Series units include proprietary switching technology that reduces energy consumption, faster actuation, smart magnetic clamping, part-right/part-wrong feedback, and two to three times the performance of any similarly sized electromagnet or electro-permanent magnet. Retentivity.

Field-shaping pole pieces are available in standard and custom configurations to ensure the correct grip for the application.

Smart grippers are smaller than electromagnets, reducing the size of end-of-arm tools. Designers are often able to use smaller robots due to their lighter weight and size, resulting in lower capital costs and a smaller footprint.
